Amanda Nunes’ Record-Breaking MMA Career After Her Retirement From UFC 289

The best female mixed martial artist of all time, Amanda Nunes, announced her retirement following a convincing victory over Irene Aldana at UFC 289 on Saturday.

The UFC’s return to Vancouver, British Columbia, featured the main event, which saw 35-year-old Nunes defeat Aldana by unanimous decision. With a remarkable 150 major hits to Aldana’s 51, the Brazilian superstar was in complete control of the battle from the opening bell to the last bell.

With the victory, Nunes increased her MMA career record to 21-4 and her winning streak to 12 matches. She also made history in the UFC by holding two titles at once after winning the women’s bantamweight title in 2016.

After the fight, Nunes announced her retirement from MMA.

It’s over for me,” Nunes said. “I’m giving up MMA. I’ve had a wonderful career and am content with my accomplishments. Even though I’ll miss this, I need to go on.

The UFC women’s division has suffered greatly as a result of Nunes’ retirement. She served as the division’s face for many years, and her supremacy contributed to the acceptance of women’s MMA.

But Nunes leaves a legacy in the sport that will be hard to equal. People regard her as the best female fighter of all time and the most dominant female fighter in MMA history.

Reaction to Amanda Nunes’ Retirement

The MMA scene responded enthusiastically to Nunes’ retirement.

Dana White, the president of the UFC, admitted that he was “disappointed” by Nunes’ choice to retire but that he respected it.

Amanda’s a great champion, and she’s done so much for MMA and the UFC,” White said. My best wishes go out to her in all of her future endeavors. I respect her decision to retire.

Many of Nunes’ competitors paid respect to the Brazilian star on social media.

Ronda Rousey, a former UFC champion, tweeted: “Congratulations on an amazing career, Amanda Nunes.” Rousey said that you are the best of all time.

Israel Adesanya, the current UFC middleweight champion, proclaimed Amanda Nunes to be the best female fighter of all time. Those who look up to her should be inspired by her.

Although Nunes’ retirement is a significant loss for the UFC, her legacy will endure for many more years. She is a true leader in women’s MMA and will go down in history as one of the best competitors ever.
