How Dubai’s Travel and Tourism Sector is Preparing for Post-Pandemic Experiences

A Look at How the Covid-19 Pandemic Pushed Dubai’s Travel & Tourism Sector to Create New Protocols

As a result of the lessons learned through COVID-19 and businesses adopting digital to maintain their B2B and B2C operations in case of an emergency, the global travel and tourist industry is prepared for the next pandemic.

A new illness known as the Marburg virus was identified earlier this month in Tanzania and Equatorial Guinea, two African nations. As a result, numerous airlines suspended flights after the disease’s spread in the two African nations.

Oman encouraged tourists to delay travel to areas where the Marburg virus is present and to take safeguards if necessary.

On April 6, Emirates airline issued a statement saying that “customers arriving in Oman, and those who have travelled from the impacted countries, must isolate themselves and seek immediate assistance if they feel bad within 21 days of trip due to the verified outbreak of the Marburg contagion in the Republic of Tanzania and Guinea.”

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the travel and tourism sector was among the worst-hit, with airports closing, aircraft being grounded, and thousands of personnel being let go globally.

The majority of businesses, according to Mathew Zachariah, marketing manager at Al Rais Travel, are equipped to handle a new epidemic.

“Most of them weren’t prepared digitally during Covid-19. However, they have recently either gone digital or are in the process of doing so, which will allow them to keep providing B2B and B2C services even if a pandemic occurs.

Farzana Sameer, general manager of Dadabhai Travel, reiterated Zachariah’s remarks and stated, “Absolutely, the industry is more prepared now for any new pandemic,” on the sidelines of the four-day Arabian Travel Market 2023, which began on Monday at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Covid-19 has provided valuable insights for the travel business, according to Ross Veitch, CEO and co-founder of Wego. “I believe we’d be a little bit more set if a epidemic strikes the world,” the speaker said.
