After the Rugby World Cup, Jacques Nienaber will leave his position as South Africa’s head coach to take a job with the Irish province Leinster, the sides announced on Saturday.
Nienaber, who previously held a number of positions within the South African rugby systems, including assistant coach for the national team at the 2011 and 2019 World Cups, has been in charge of the world champion Springboks since 2020.
He declared that he was leaving his position “with a heavy heart.”
Nienaber declared, “The choice is made, and that’s completely behind me now. “This year’s Rugby World Cup championship defence by the Springboks is all that I have on my mind. I’ll keep exerting all of my effort to make sure we do everything possible to achieve it.
CEO of SA Rugby Rian Oberholzer stated that the group will confirm Nienaber’s replacement “in due course.”
Beginning in September, France hosts the World Cup.
One of the best rugby teams in Europe is Leinster. Stuart Lancaster, the current coach, will be replaced by Nienaber because Lancaster will join Racing 92 in France at the end of the current campaign.
